How it works · EMR integrations

It works alongside your EMR.

LastPatient sits between you and the EMR, and your EMR stays the system of record. We just make sure what goes into it is complete.

  1. The visit

    You and the patient

  2. LastPatient

    Defined variables, confirmed

  3. Your EMR

    Note and codes

  • AlsoInsights
  • AlsoOutcomes
  • AlsoResearch

The EMR stays the system of record. The same variables feed the other products too.

Two ways to connect

A direct connection, with a backup that always works.

Overlay and API

LastPatient runs beside the EMR on the clinician’s desktop and connects to it directly through an API. Once the note is confirmed, the note and the codes go into the EMR. Nobody copies or pastes anything.

Copy and paste, as a backup

If the connection is ever down, export the whole note, or copy it from the Springboard, and paste it into the EMR. Like a broken escalator, it still gets you to the top.

Supported EMRs

  • athenaOne
  • Epic
  • Oracle Health (Cerner)

We list an EMR as supported once LastPatient is running with it in production.

One call, and we’ll confirm how LastPatient connects to it.
